Multiple HDD configs
A while back I got a 2nd HDD. 1.5TB to store all my media on, leaving ample space for games and software on the main C: drive.
Having used it for a while I've noticed a few things.
Firstly, when I play music some of tracks will skip. This isn't down to a bad MP3 rip or anything, it's at random on any song, so I assume this is something to do with the HDD.
Second, every so often I can hear the drive spin down, so when I come to load something off it, it has to spin up again and takes a while to load.
Is there a way to keep the 2nd HDD from spinning down. If so, is it safe to keep it running all the time, or is it better to let it stop when not in use?
And, can anybody offer up an explanation to the music skipping?
I've never used RAID configs before, would you guys recommend them? I've read about increased rates of disk failure. If I was to merge my drives, does that mean a clean install of Windows?
Any info on HDDs and the like would be helpful folks.
