    Can i upgrade my RAM?

    i have a computer ACER 4736ZG with:
    Intel pentium processor T4300
    NVIDIA geforce g105m
    2+1GB ram DDR2

i am getting 4GB DDR3 1333 and im not sure if my computer will support it. i will remove the 1GB ram and replace it so i get 6GB RAM total.

also im not sure about mixing up a DDR2 and a DDR3 RAM

Im noob at computers and i got a report for my comp from CPU-Z if u need it. i dont know how to read it anyways...

    Mypc.txt

    thx

Hi aimpac, from what I can see from the acer website your laptop will only run on ddr2 memory at the most pc2- 6400 you would be better sticking with pc2-5300 Acer Support: Drivers & Support Documents - Notebook / Aspire / Aspire 4736ZG you will be wasting your money trying to install 1333mhz memory on a system designed to run 333mhz memory

If you are using the 32bit operating system ,windows will only "see" it as 3.5 gb ,if you are using 64 bit OS then windows will use all 4gb make sure you get PC2-5300 ram DDR2

    hiii aimpacc,
it will be totally a waste of money of urs if u buy a 4gb DDR2 module because ur each slot supports only 2GB DDR2 RAM chip. And so u can maximize ur memory only upto 4GB(2+2).

I think that is what the OP intends to do 2x2gb modules :)

PC2-5300 is the speed of the ram, your motherboard supports ram at a speed of 333mhz when you go to buy the ram look for the label on the module it will state ddr2 pc2-5300 :)
