HELP!! x64 bit OS detects only 3.25G ram out of 8G

    HELP!! x64 bit OS detects only 3.25G ram out of 8G


    HELP!

    I don't know what the heck happened!

    Just a few days ago my win7 HP was working PERFECTLY and it was detecting all of my 8Gb of DDR3 @ 1333 Mhz and now... it says ONLY 3.25Gb Usable!

    WHAT THE HECK!!

    Please help me resolve this problem
    all my ram bars are working perfectly, my motherboard is brand new

    Did you disable Memory Remap in your BIOS? (it must be enabled)
    Reset the settings to your BIOS to default values
    Is your BIOS detecting all the 8GB?

    Uncheck Max mem from msconfig (msconfig>Boot>Advanced options)

    well if you have windows 7 starter edition... it's limited to 2gb regardless of x64 or not (there's a hack to get rid of the limit)

    I am using windows 7 Home Premium (That's what my HP stands for)

    oh my god!

    Problem resolved.

    it was the msconfig limit I don't know how the heck it got enabled.

    Most probably by some "Auto system tuners" such as TuneUp etc
