Firewire 400 works, but not FW 800

I have two PC:s with PCI and PCIe firewire-cards. They both seem to work in FW400 mode but not in FW800 mode. I am running W7 64-bit on both machines. Has anyone heard of this before? I think I have updated everything there is to update. What to do?

Update, I got one of the FW cards to work fully, it needed an extra driver, so it has one driver for the FW 400 port and another for the FW 800 ports. The other FW card only has a functioning FW400 port while the two FW 800 ports still doesn't work. I think that card is faulty and will try to get it fixed.
