    HDD Space slowly depleting

I am running Windows 7 Professional x64 and for the past few days I am noticing that my HDD space is slowly going down. Last night it was showing 222GB, then I did a restart and it was showing 217 (I didn't install anything). Since then it has dropped to 213GB, WTF is going on??

    An automatic backup/restore point perhaps

Well, it is still slowly going down. I uninstalled a few things and got it up to 225 last night, it is back to 220 GB now. Any help here would be appreciated.

Turn off system restore or automated backups.

If you want to see if system restore points are eating up the memory, go to the system properties system restore configuration menu and see how much it is using one day, then the next.

Are you using a third party defragmenter? Depending on which one and how it is configured that can cause the volume shadow copy to eat up hard disk space.

Also, if you have a system-managed paging file and hibernation enabled, this could also explain steady growth (and subsequent shrink) of hard drive space. I've been a fan of spacemonger for determining space usage in the past, so using that might be useful over the next week or two to see what you can see about what's changing over time.

Why don't you ask him what he is doing with the computer instead of giving him solutions to problems that he may not have, and may not solve his issue.

Didn't I? There are many things you can do with a computer that aren't relevant :)
    You help him then.

Do the following: Open an elevated Command Prompt (run as admin) and paste this command in:

    vsadmin list shadowstorage

The hit Enter. What numbers does it show on Allocated and Maximum - for the C partition ??
