    Card reader problem

Hello all. I could really use some help. When I plug a CF card into either my internal or external cad readers nothing happens. If I unplug the external reader from the USB and plug it back in it will read the card. Soon as I try to put another card in the reader same thing happens and I need to unplug and replug external reader into USB port Internal only reads card after I reboot the computer but same problem remove one card for another and the same thing happens. I am using windows 7 64 bit and numerous types of USB card readers all with current drivers. all cards are 8gb and all readers are high capacity readers. Thanks in advance.

Hi fdnavy, and Welcome to the Seven Forums. . .
Sounds like a driver problem. Go to the manufacture's site and see if they have update the drivers for your specific card reader. Good luck

Thanks. I have already upgraded all of the drivers. What else could it be?

Is this card reader compatiable with 64 bit?

Yes both readers are 64 bit compatable. One is an internal USB rose will 40 in 1 drive the other is an external USB lexar reader. Both have current drivers. It seems like the readers themselves are unmounting because if I unplug and replug it will work until the next card swap.

Have you tried the external reader in another computer? Try another USB port on your machine, do you have all USB ports occupied? Maybe it's a power issue. I've had an external HD work on one port but not another.

Have you tried the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter ?
