    Partitioning assistance needed!

Recently got a brand new ASUS P50IJ Notebook, and it's been working like a dream. Though I'm having an issue managing the partitioned drive. One is named OS (Drive C:) and is supposed to be for the OS and programs, from what I've gathered, and the other partition is named DATA (Drive D:) and was supposed to be the default space used for personal data and the like. The problem I've having is that drive D: is not the default saving space and before I knew it, drive C: is out of space. Is there any possible I can go about making drive D: the default partition for saving personal data (like anything in the 'Users' folders)?

Sorry in advance if I made my explanation a bit too convoluted. I will clarify if need be.

Please and thanks in advance as well!

There are several methods for changing it, none of them seem to be too highly recommended though.
You can find more info on it a microsoft's social net.
Or just google move user folders.

You don't really need to edit or muck with the OS...just start saving things to the D drive, and move your data files over to that partition. Simple as that.

I always have a D drive, whether it be a partition on a single drive in a laptop, or a second physical drive in a tower. I store all of my personal files, documents, etc on the D drive. I don't edit anything in the OS, or make any wild config changes.

    Thanks for the advice, DeaconFrost!

I will be doing so, but I was wondering if there is anything I can do to make shortcuts, like the one in the Start Menu to jump into the current user's folder, work by sending you to the folders in the different partition.

I Googled what you suggested and the articles in the forums that appeared really helped a lot! :)

Don't save your data to the users folder. I haven't used the "My" folders since they were introduced in XP. I have folders on my D drive for Documents, Photos, Music, etc. If you really want, just create/adjust libraries to point to these folders.
