USS Enterprise webcam!! Not Windows 7 compatible??

I bought a USS Enterprise webcam on the basis it was advertised as plug & play, including for Windows 7 - however, for Skype at least it doesn't seem to work - anyone have any ideas? I am completely non-techy, so answers is words of less than 2 syllables please...!

1. does the webcam work with it's own software? ie. does it energize and can you see the picture?
2. does windows recognize the webcam? in system devices?
3. if so then have you selected it and configured it in skype?

So many questions.

Looking for a compatible Webcam!
