Dark printing issue with Windows 7

Hello all! I'm hoping y'all can help me.

I've got a Lexmark T644 printer, set to work on a network. The workstations that are currently printing to it print everything correctly. These workstations are Windows XP, with the correct T644 driver. All grayscales for the colors are good and everything is just peachy keen with that setup.

I have need to upgrade these to Windows 7, but when I swapped out one of the workstations for a new one, and connect to that printer (whereupon Windows 7 uses it's included Lexmark T644 (MS) driver), when we print the *exact same* information that works fine in the XP machines, it comes out WAY too dark in the blues and reds, to the point that 'highlighted' material in the pages is now completely blacked out.

I've tried all kinds of settings in the Win7 driver, and I am stumped, as NOTHING alleviates the problem except going back to XP. This is a no-go. Of course, the other option is a different printer, and that too is a no-go.

Google, et al, searching on this is useless, as the searches always come up with a ton of 'photo' related problems, or screen-to-printer comparison issues, but nothing much like what I have. Those that are close don't have any resolution, dropping off the vine, so to speak. Even searching here did not induce many good results.

I just find it completely weird that 7 would do this, as there's no other explanation. It's very cut and dry what's happened here. I'm so... irritated right now. I say it all the time: I hate printers. But in this case, I'm not sure it's the printer's fault, but the baked in Win7 driver.

Oh, and another thing, I did try to use the Vista driver from Lexmark, but it just kinda crashed a little bit, reset the Explorer, and it wouldn't print anything but some error. So that didn't work. Maybe there's another driver, but I don't know where (or what?) it is.

I thank y'all in advance for any help, and mods, as I'm such a noob here, if I'm in the wrong place, please move and advise me as to my erroneous ways.

Might not hurt to hit the machine with the problem with a direct driver download from the site.

just give it your windows version in the drop down menus and hit filter. It's possible win 7 fed you a older driver.
Anyhow, when a driver auto loads and something goes wrong I usually run to the manufacturer's website. Does the trick more often than not.

    Thank you for the reply!

I had tried to find the drivers, but perhaps I mislead myself. I will attempt that tomorrow.

I want to say I did download the Vista drivers, as 7 isn't explicitly listed... I really don't like Lexmark's presentation on this page.

I guess the universal ones they're showing are the way to go...

I'll let ya know if there's any change or not. Thanks again!
