A long story short: I tried to install the Brother 5370DW onto my desktop using Windows 7 x64 countless times. I wanted to use it wireless, so I followed the directions using the ethernet cable. It appeared to install, but if the computer was shut off, the printer was offline the next bootup. Many attempts; WPS, and cable, but never worked. Although, the two laptops, using Vista Home on the first install, the printer worked fine - wifi. I called and spoke to a tech in a far away land...looong time...he could not get it to work either. I must have printer half a ream of paper just to get to pg. 4 to see the port every time he had me try something new. He suggested to just use an ethernet cable in the end - he knew as much or less than what I did! My next attempt, after I removed the Brother
driver/software I just went to Device/Printer and I installed the printer, it used WSD when it found it, no TCP/IP. So, I set the two laptops the same way. Now, using wi-fi there are no issues. I am just not sure what I did, I really don't know anything about Web Services for Deivces... Is WSD port better, at least it seem to be for me, over TCP/IP? Thanks.
