    Installing a new processor

If I go buy a Intel Core i7 extreme and replace it with my Intel Dual Core will it be that simple?

    System specs:
    Windows 7 x64
    4.00GB ram
    Intel Dual Core 2.80ghz

    Different Sockets.

You need to stay with a socket 775 CPU if you want to upgrade what you have currently.

Here are some of your choices: Newegg.com - cpu with LGA 775 But you also have to watch the Wattage of your board.

I wish to replace my existing Processor and Motherboard.
Can I maintain the existing status of my C: drive (operation system and programs)
Can I replace the components and THEN update the MB Bios and drivers.
    Please.
I suggest you start your own thread in lieu of highjacking this one.
