Hello there. Well, £600 could buy you a decent PC

    CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 640 Quad Core 3.0GHz Socket AM3 - Retail £76.98
    MoBo: Asus M4A87TD/USB3 AMD 870 (Socket AM3) ATX DDR3 Motherboard £80.30
    RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws-X 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit £39.98
PSU: Corsair CX 600W ATX2.2 Power Supply £53.99
Case: Antec Three Hundred Case - Black - No Psu £49.99
    HDD: Samsung Spin Point F3 SATAII 1TB 32MB Cache Hard Drive <8.9ms 7200rpm - OEM £40.98
    Video Card: XFX ATI Radeon 6850 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card - Retail £156.28
SSD: Crucial RealSSD C300 64GB 2.5inch SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive - Retail £94.98

    Total Price: £593.48

I think that would be the best bang for the buck! :)

    EDIT:

Yes, the OP could go with a HD5850 and still be in the budget!

    Video Card: XFX ATI Radeon 5850 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card - Retail £163.39

    New Total Price: £600.59

Here's the comparison between the HD6850 and the HD5850: AMD

The 5850 is about the same price range and actually has a higher performance rating than the 6850. The 69xx cards are the performance block in that line.

I only brought up that difference because I personally own a 5850 and I've been rather impressed with it. It took the place of 2 8800gtx's and puts them to complete shame.

If you plan on editing with Premiere Pro CS5, you will want to use an Nvidia card for real-time effects and color correction.

Please be advised that this price is without an Operating System so expect a little more for an OS - Or you may use a Free OS

       Warning
Free OSs' are unstable so I do not recommend using them

       Tip
I would Recommed either Windows 7 Pro or Windows 7 Ultimate for a Custom Build

Josh, i wouldn't say that FreeOSs are unstable. there no such thing as a perfect OS :) every OS has its flaws and its strenghts but that would transform this thread into a OS debate and that's not the point.

I do assume that if the OP is in a Windows 7 forum, he is going to install Windows 7 to his new PC. or at least that's what i'd do. hehe.
