    CD and DVD not working


    Neither one will read.Windows says their OK,but nothing.All I get when I try to start a disk is 'Files waiting to be written to the disk' an icon of desktop with configuration settings.Win is also telling me the disk is not formatted.Games that require the disk work ???????????

    So that might be a 3rd party burner using the UpperFilter & LowerFilter, that have to be deleted in the registry key.

    Look at the screenshot for the registry path, then delete the two key (after having exported them to backup, just in case you need to put them back) "Upperfilter" & "LowerFilter".

    Reboot and retry.

    Gee ... could be lots of things ...

    One possible hardware complication is, if they are SATA drives (most new ones are), how you have the connected to your motherboard. I recently built a new system and switched to using AHCI for my SATA drives -- including optical drives. I had all kinds of wierd problems with the optical drives.

    So, I moved their cables to SATA plugs on the motherboard that were set for IDE (not AHCI) and have not had any problems since.

    OK, The system is a year old running W7 ultimate,no 3rd party burner.I am trying to avoid a reinstall.It was running fine till 3/12. I tried to install turbo tax when I found the problem.

    Did you uninstall Turbo Tax then retried?

    Download the Intel Matrix Storage manager, running your system in AHCI mode can cause problems for optical drives. Having the matirx storage manger drivers installed will solve that problem.

    Says my system does not meet minimum requirements? Lets see I have an I7 975 EX,12G Ram,Win7 64 bit what else may I need?
