Barebones Desktops
Anybody purchased any barebones systems?
Who has best deals and most reliable product?
Also, which MoBo as well as AMD or Intel processor?

Newegg.com and Tigerdirect have some good deals on barebones. I have purchased many a kit when the go on sale. Reliability depends greatly on the manufacturer, not the retailer.
It's really best to pick your own parts. It takes some time to make sure your RAM is the right voltage, ect. I and many others have videos on YT (mine are under the same user name) You can get some good recommendations there.
I just built a good AMD system from Newegg but I normally build Intel, personal choice. They are both fine. Check out the video if you want the parts. CPU (1055T six core), MOBO, and RAM was just GSkill 1333Mhz (1.5V) 8-8-8-21 timings. Great system.
I would not but those "barebones" systems but they would do if you son't have time to research. You can save a little money with barebones too I suppose. Good luck
The rig I'm on right now started out as a bare bones system from TigerDirect.ca
It came with the following:
Motherboard - Asus M2N68-AM SE2 µATX Motherboard
Processor - 2.60GHz AMD Athlon II X4 620 Quad Core with heatsink and fan.
Ram - 1024MB Ultra PC5400 DDR2 667MHz Memory
Hard Drive - 250 Gig WesternDigital IDE Drive
Power Up Black ATX Mid Tower with Extreme ATX 450 Watt power supply.
It was a less than 300 Canadian including shipping and taxes.
I've since added a GT 220 PCIe video card, another 2 gigs of ram, and swapped out the IDE drive for a SATA 2 hard drive. Windows 7 Home Premium x64. I have no complaints, it does what I want and plays the games I like. I didn't have a lot of money to spend on a PC and wanted something that I could pretty well use right away. I'm a retired electronic technician so the some assembly required part wasn't a problem for me.
Thanks for the feedback. Do the ASUS MoBos have SLIC 2.1 so that I can run OEM Windows 7? Also, do you get BIOS updates directly from ASUS?
I'm not sure what you're asking in relation to SLIC? My version of Windows 7 Home Premium is OEM. I downloaded the latest BIOS for my motherboard from ASUS.
