need some help with cpu coolers

I have just built myself a new PC but I am finding the stock AMD fan very noisy So went to pc shop and had a look at few option the other problem I have is I have a Micro ATX case so not much room for big cooler I purchased coolmaster 212 but there is no chance of that fitting in so I have narrowed it down to silverstone mitrogon NT06-E or Scythe Shuriken Rev.B Quiet Low Profile Cooler 3 Heat Pipe - HTPC the scythe seems to get better reviews but does not say it is AM3 compatableany one got any advice ? Any one running either of these or some thing better?

    Thanks

    Hello there ian

The Scythe IS compatible with AMD AM3 socket :)

Shuriken Rev. B: Scythe - The Cooling Experts

    I'd go with it.

    You're welcome, ian.

Enjoy your new CPU cooler. Btw, did you buy Thermal Compound? i use Arctic Silver 5 and it's great.

Don't know if the cooler comes with pre-applied thermal paste.

    Here:

Arctic Silver Incorporated - Route to Product Instructions for Arctic Silver 5

Choose your CPU and processor, then, on the right column you'll see a link (that's a PDF file) with the proper method for applying the compound :)

Here's a debate from some of the guys:

Just get Isopropyl Alcohol from your local pharmacy. Make sure it's as close to 100% proof as you can get. And no, don't drink what's leftover!!
However, the most problem with Isopropyl Alcohol from pharamacies is that the active ingredient is water. Just don't drench the cloth in alcohol and rub the dye with all your strength. To clean any thermal grease/compound, rub in a circular motion and increase strength if necessary.

But if you can get your hands on some Isopropyl Alcohol that does not contain water than that would be a better solution.

    Good Luck cleaning.
I guess that says it all :)

And that's what i personally use.. a tiny bit of alcohol to remove and then a dry soft cloth.

You need Aksassa TIMclean, that's what I use.

But "Farmhouse Distilled" Irish Potcheen will do the same thing ;-)
