    Epson Artisan 835 Scan Problem and Resolution

    Hi All, I wonder if anyone is using the Epson Artisan 835 (multi-function network printer)? It's a wonderful printer with excellent features and works a treat... however...

    The printer is a wired connection (ethernet) to my router. All features (except Scan to PC) works perfectly. The laptop also connects to it wirelessly without a problem.
    The issue is that the printers Scan to PC... only shows USB and not the network PC as what the manual claims it does.
    • I have installed the Win 7 64 Bit Combo Drivers and Utilities;
    • Epson Event Manager is running in the background and buttons are setup;
    • I ran the Scan Settings Utility and everything reports back with successfull communications, picks up the printer model and its IP address, etc.
    • The Network Settings area (via the Printers Control Panel) has also picked up the network settings ok.
    • Even my router has picked up the printer's IP/MAC address, Host Name, etc in its DHCP List.
    • I have also white-listed Epson components in Windows Firewall.
    But unless the printer is connected via USB the darn thing won't Scan over ethernet.

    Any tips, please?

    Ok I found the solution & i'm brain dead now... after hours of trawling the net for suggestions!... SIGH!

    FYI - Unfortunately (come on Epson!) but thankfully, I found a tip in the PCWORLD site. The Epson installation only checks and enables the FIREWALL settings for the printer app itself. Once I made exceptions to all the other various Epson executables, the printer's [Scan To] feature now displays my Computer over Ethernet. Tested and success at last.

    Hi, good to know that you were able to resolve the problem after scrounging the net for hours and give out the solution here.

    Can you change the title to "Epson Artisan 835 scan problem and resolution" ? I feel, it will then be more readily visible to any one searching for a resolution for the same problem on the net.

    I appreciate with all my heart your perseverance to find a solution yourself. Enjoy your multifunction printer. :)

    Also you can click on that red triangle in the upper right corner of the window and type: "SOLVED", then the mods will mark it so.

    Thanks for your kind words Ponmayilal.. if we find solutions for our own problems why not share it so others can possibly benefit from it...and I agree with the Title change but sorry I'm not sure how?

    Well, I am not sure whether you can change the thread title using the edit button for I had never tried it. But I am sure you can use the report button (the red triangle) and request the mods to change the title.
