Windows 7 and Logitech Quickcam Pro 3000

This cam seems to have been ignored since XP..by Logitech, try the camera in XP and it works fine

after xp , vista/7 the device is unknown

however there is a workaround which works in vista, and i tried it earlier and it also works in windows 7!!

Quickcam Pro 3000 works in version 10.5.1. It also works with version
11.1. Same goes for Quickcam Pro.

The software package from Logitech seems quiet rational and works with
most of their cameras I would guess.
In version 10.5 Logitech seemed to fase out identification for some of
their webcams - probably only as a matter of their service policyoris
that sales? Nothing to do with that i.e. the Quickcam Pro 3000 camera
is incompatible with Vista.

10.5: Quickcam Pro 3000

a) You can still download version 10.5 by going Logitech support for
Quickcam Pro 4000.

b) Start an uncomlpete installation and then geta copy of the
installation file hierarchy, thats is "Program Files\Logitech
\QuickCamWebInstall".

c) You need to go into the "\Drivers\x32\PRO" and edit the .inf-files:
lvcoinst, lvPROc, lvPROs, lvPROv.
For each,where ever it says i.e. 08B2 (Quickcam Pro 4000) replace it
with 08B0 (Quickcam Pro 3000). Replace "Pro 4000" phrases with "Pro
3000" to get proper presentation in the userinterface for Windows
system management as well.

d) Delete the 4 corresponding .cat files for .inf-files lvcoinst,
lvPROc, lvPROs, lvPROv as well. These are security catalogs or really
the certificates identifying thus validating the integrety of the .inf-
files (vendor signed). You need to delete since the edits changed the
integrety. Deletion will override the automatic installation
(unmanaged driver installation) and activate user interaction (managed
driver installation).

11.1:Quickcam Pro 3000

a) You can still download version 10.5 by going Logitech support for
Quickcam Pro 5000.

b) Start the installation. (BTW you can get a copy of the installation
file hierarchy in "C:\Users\%user%\AppData\Local\Temp
\QuickCam_11.1.0". It does not go into the hierarchy of Program Files
any more)

Tip: Disable the Logitech update service (desktop messenger) by using
a customized installation.

c) You use the software as is.Skip camera connect when it fails
detection af USB plug insertion. Reason is that Logitech decided to
remove identification (USB product ID, PID) for plug-and-play
detection.

d) Go to device manager,right click the camera or undetected camera
device and select properties.

e) Select update driver, select to choose install location and go the
"\Drivers\x32\PRO" folder you may have created from 10.5. Those
drivers works perfectly with 11.1. You can even use the new camera and
motion monitor gadets for Windows Sidebar in Vista.

Many thanks to markeee for the great post about getting the Logitech QuickCam 3000 working in Vista! I followed instructions & it is working!

Additional Info: In Step 10.5 section c
My system is 64bit Vista. In addition to modifying the 3 *.inf files (there is no LVCOINST.inf file with this scenario),
I had to modify LVCOIN64.ini and LVCOINST.ini
(Same mods as stated in the instructions.) I used NotePad and used "Edit, Find, Replace" for 08B2 with 08B0 and Pro 4000 with Pro 3000.
As stated, there are 3 "cat" files that should be deleted.
My files are located in
C:\Program Files (x86)/Logitech\QuickCamWebInstall\Drivers\x64\PRO64

Reboot, plug camera into USB port, point driver installation request to above directory & YES! the drivers install and the camera functions perfectly along with the built-in mic.

glad it works mate! figured it was worthy of being posted - took me a while to find any info on the quickcam 3000 in vista/win7


seems like they chose not to support the older versions in the newer software..

Since it works so well, I hesitate to try anything further...baby steps.

My need is mostly for VOIP (Skype). The QuickCam Pro 3000 was/is a very good camera and was expensive when purchased quite a long time ago. Delighted to get it up and running with Vista & saving some $$$ in the process...thanks again.

Now, on to getting the film scanner working without 3rd party software programs.

totally agree mate, perfect little camera, does the job - so why would i want to get a new one, just means wasting a perfectly good webcam!

If i copy exactly the edits he said to copy, will it still work? I know that some still say 08b2 and quickcam pro 4000 on his where he said to change them...

Also is the lvcoinst "configuration settings" file the "inf" file that is being talked about? also i do not have a security catolog for lvcoinst...

lvcoinst should be an inf file i think if i remember correctly

as to his files, I'm not sure, I just edited my own mate - but he says on the post you can just copy and paste his, so i see no reason to doubt it, after all he spent the time to write the post

what cam is it you have?

If, as your profile indicates, you are using Windows XP with QuickCam Pro 3000, then you do not need the info and mods that are quoted here.

Download the latest XP software from the Logitech website:

If you are using Vista or Windows7 with the QuickCam Pro 3000, then you need the mods listed on this forum.

The instructions that markeee gave are for 32 bit systems.

My setup is 64 bit Vista, so the instructions are slightly different. See my post "Additional Information" for files locations, etc. There is no lvcoinst.inf or lvcoinst.cat file with 64 bit installation. As I stated, there 2 files: LVCOIN64.ini and LVCOINST.ini (in addition to lvPROc, lvPROs, & lvPROv) that must be modified to substitute info.
