Hi, welcome to the forums :)

You may want to try the following...

1, Click Start and type Device Manager then click it when it appears in the list
2, Click the > next to DVD/CD Rom Drives
3, Right-click the CdRom Device in the list and choose 'Uninstall' then click OK
4, Click the my windows 7 home premium cannot detect my cd-capture.png to start a scan of PNP devices

This will force Windows to completely re-install your CD drivers and has been known to solve similar issues

    Hope it helps

try this fix by Microsoft Hardware devices are not working or are not detected in Windows

Hardware devices are not working or are not detected in Windows

    What it fixes...
When you install a hardware device, it is not detected
Determine if your audio device is plugged in
Driver updates aren't automatically installed by Windows Update
You receive one of the following errors:
Your <Device Name> is currently disabled or turned off in Windows
Your <Device Name> has a driver problem and needs to be reinstalled
Windows has detected a problem with your <Device Name>, it is not working properly
There is no driver installed for your <Device Name>

    Perform a SFC Scan

    1. Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow

    2. Type the following command, and then press ENTER:

    sfc /scannow

A message will appear stating that 'The system scan will begin'. Be patient because the scan may take some time

    3. If any files require a replace SFC will replace them. You may be asked to insert your Windows 7 DVD for this process to continue

    4. If everything is okay you should, after the scan, see the following message "Windows resource protection did not find any integrity violations"

    5. After the scan has completed, close the command prompt window, restart the computer and check.

more information here How to use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Windows 7

TIP >>> RUN THE SCAN SEVERAL TIMES EVEN IF WINDOWS TELLS YOU IT DID NOT FIND VIOLATIONS

Did you uninstall the CD drive which appeared as suggested and now it isnt appearing? Restart the computer. Check again.

Try unplugging it and plugging it in again.

Check the device model Support Downloads webpage for newer firmware to install per the instructions given in download.

Check your computer or mobo model's SUpport Downloads webpage to see if there is a newer chipset to install: Driver Install - Device Manager The driver for that device should be the USB Enhanced Host Controller.
