Video Import Wizard Doesn't Show Up when I plug in my Camcorder Okay, so I used to have an easy time importing video into Windows. I would plug in my Canon Camcorder. The import video wizard would pop up. I'd name it. Boom-- video.
Now it doesn't show up. I've messed with autoplay options (is there one I missed?) in the control panel. I can't figure this out. Autoplay IS enabled-- "Use Autoplay for all Media and Devices." Also, I have the option selected, "Import Pictures and Video Using Windows."
Now, I just have to access the camcorder's filesystem directly and copy-paste the fragements of video files hidden layers deep within incomprehensibly titled folders. It's time consuming and not fun.
Where's my video import wizard? LOL! How can I re-activate it?
Oh yeah, and while I'm at it, the autoplay options for importing pictures from my digital camera and importing files from SD cards doesn't show up either. WhaaaaA???
HELP! Why isn't autoplay working?

What I now use with Windows 7 is Windows Live Photo Gallery to import from my Canon camcorder. I then use Windows Live Movie Maker to edit. They are free from MS at Windows Live Essentials 2011 - Download free Microsoft programs
Hope this helps.

Yeah, that reminds me that you can also use Paint. It is greyed out in my picture because I have no scanner or Camera attached right now. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP, Dell, Gateway, Toshiba - 4 laptops and 2 desktops OS Vista, Windows7, Mint Mate, Zorin, Windows 8 CPU from 1.6GHz Duo to i7 Monitor(s) Displays 2x HP w2207 Keyboard with trackball - no mices Mouse Trackball mice Hard Drives 5x HDD, 7x SSD, 12x Externals Internet Speed DSL 6000 |

Well, I got it working with Windows Live Photo Gallery. Thanks, Phone Man!
The problem is this: No matter what I did, autoplay still doesn't work. WHS- Thanks for that link...... I followed the directions, but even after employing both method 1 and method 2, autoplay still doesn't work.
GRRR! Oh, and for some reason paint grays out my camera option even with one plugged in, as well.
Fortunately, the link and the from scanner or camera in Live Photo Gallery does, however. Yay.
Still... what... is up? I feel like Windows is turning into brokenland.
Thanks guys.

You might wnt to run sfc /scannow in elevated command prompt. Maybe you have a couple of system files that ar corrupted which the system file checker may (or may not) fix. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP, Dell, Gateway, Toshiba - 4 laptops and 2 desktops OS Vista, Windows7, Mint Mate, Zorin, Windows 8 CPU from 1.6GHz Duo to i7 Monitor(s) Displays 2x HP w2207 Keyboard with trackball - no mices Mouse Trackball mice Hard Drives 5x HDD, 7x SSD, 12x Externals Internet Speed DSL 6000 Video Import Wizard Doesn't Show Up when I plug in my Camcorder problems?
