Can anyone help me decide which model I need?

Hi, I am running Windows 7, and Outlook 2010, and am about to buy an iPhone. I can't decide whether I need iPhone 3 or iPhone 4 - I want to be able to synch my Outlook calendar and contacts with my new iPhone. Can anyone help me decide which model I need? Thanks

Hello there. Welcome to the forums.

Actually the model of the iPhone has nothing to do with the fact that it can or can't synchronize your outlook calendar and contacts, because they run on the same iOS 4.2.1 Build 8C148.

The main difference on both iPhones is hardware related.

Here you have a Comparison Chart between the iPhone 3GS and the iPhone 4

Apple - iPhone - Compare iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS

Check it out and hopefully that'll help you make your decision

    Post back your results

EDIT: answering directly your question. yes, both iPhones will be able to synchronize your Outlook Calendar and Contacts, you can read it more explained here:

Well I have had both both brilliant phones !
The main difference is between the screens and the camera the HD video on the I phone 4 is simply brilliant the I phone 4 is slightly quicker not that much and has a front camera I would get the 4 as I think it will be supported for a lot longer ! The only draw back is apple and there DRM makes doing normal thing like having ringtones as your favourite music slightly more difficult to do, but is the same on both phones!

After all that is said in reply i would only add an tip

Your calendars must be stored in an Outlook 2003- or Outlook 2007-compatible calendar application.

I have the iphone 4 and honestly I love it. The benefit of the pictures from the camera and HD video (even if it is only 720p) alone sold me. But I have 2 small kids. From what I hear you can get the 3G for about $50 now. Just keep in mind you get what you pay for.
