    keyboard and mouse not working

Yesterday I got on my computer everything is running fine. Today got on it for awhile and suddenly the USB keyboard and USB mouse lock up. I've tried restarting it and I can't get past the first screen. It says keyboard not present or something around those lines.

I plugged in a ps/2 keyboard and it works but my USB mouse will still not work. I've tried going into BIOS and making sure USB was enabled. Tried a system restore but for some reason it wont complete.

Went into safe mode and tried scanning it nothing came up but a couple tracking cookies.

Did a diagnostics through the f8 thing on start up.

Tested both the USB keyboard and mouse on another computer. They both work.

Also went into device manager and uninstalled all the USB stuff in there so it would reinstall on start up.

Nothing seems to work. Help would be appreciated!

Hello andrewww. Welcome to the Forum.

Sounds like your USB ports are bad.

Of course, questions that came to my mind: New computer? Old? How long has it been running the OS? How long have the devices worked? I assume this is a desktop.
If you fill out your SYSTEM SPECS under your forum profile a lot of these questions would be answered and you would get better answers.

Have you tested other USB devices, like thumb drives, external drives?
Have you tested all of the USB ports?
