    MICROPHONE NOT WORKING


    Hello

    I purchased A new graphic card (Nvidia GeForce DT240 1GB SDDR3) two days back
    and some how it has dissabled my microphone. My microphone works perfectly fine when i remove the graphic card. i tired various methods to make it work like adjusting the realtek audio settings, cross checked all the play back settings and i have also reinstalled the OS. but its still the same. please help i am stuck

    this is my system configuration

    Intel Core(TM)2 cpu 4300 @ 1.80GZ
    1 GB ram
    64 Bit Operatin system
    OS Windows 7 ultimate
    motherboard manufacturer Jetway
    Motherboard series Socket 775 LGA
    Motherboard Model 954GZ/GC DMS

    Have you tried going into the bios and telling it to reset the escd values?

    Sounds like the new graphics card has a irq issue with the audio.

    Also if you have a integrated graphics card I would disable it while I was in the bios.

    That occurred to me as well but it wouldn't explain the device working properly when the graphics card was removed.

    thanks for the reply

    i went to the bios i didnt c any escd settings der(i am a noob when it comes to bios and stuff) can u please explain me step by step. also i did found out that my graphic card has and onbuilt sound setting which i think might be overiding my realtek audio ones but i dont know how to disable the graphic card's audio settings.

    (PS .. my speakers are working fine only my microphone is disabbled and i have checkd all the wires they are fine )

    oooh that's right the 240 has hdmi doesn't it... DER...

    Okay you need to go into control panel -> sound, and set the built in sound device as the default.

    The hdmi audio driver on the graphics card is over riding it. You can also click on the hdmi audio device click properties and use the drop down to disable it. (I would personally do both)

    That should prevent the conflict.
