Well I have a 650 watt Thermaltake in the pc I'm on now but surely it can't be the new power supply. That's now working fine it seems. I had it connected wrongly and followed Dwarf's advice. I was using the wrong cable. It's powerring everything and the mobo looks like a Christmas tree but it's just not booting.
That does not sound correct. I know this power supply is all modular but there should be only one place on the PSU to plug the 24pin cable and one place for the ATX12 cable. the other connectors should be for periphials. Can you post a picture of the connectors on the PSU. You may have this end pluged in wrong.

Is your memory in the white 1,3,5 spots on the motherboard? If not, try that.

Yes my RAM is in the white slots. I have removed and reseated it just to make sure it's properly in.
Have you tried disconnecting all components again and booting up since you have properly re-done the power supply connections to the mobo? I believe that was only done before you had them plugged in correctly.
John with my Ultra 1000w X4 PSU I had to move the 12V connector on the PSU to the proper rail to get my mobo going and believe me my heart skipped a beat the first time when I set it all up and nothing happened. I will attach the link to a corsair video but it sounds like the PSU is just fine and it's more a connection issue. Keep at this and don't lose hope it's all going to sort it's self and likely will be really simple !

Maybe one of these will spark an idea of a possible problem or solution. I don't particularly see anything that is a smoking gun to point to.
John, it looks to me after reading this thread that there may be a lead in the wrong "orifice" double check, it's friday night. It actually sounds as if you have just plugged something in the wrong way around and it will give you this sort of croip. Bring it back to basics, take away all your harddrives etc and just use the basics to start it, if you have six, disconnect them and use the OS one, you know what I mean.
