    Personally, I consider the floppy BIOS update to be safer than from within Windows, and that is the primary reason that I make sure that I have a good floppy installed or on hand.

    first off just to get this out of the way and make sure a simple thing isn't over looked, did you put the new battery in the correct way (generally the battery is flat side UP (facing you) as thats the "+" side, and should face up (towards you normally for most mother boards out there)
