    Compaq cq56-115dx

    HI to everyone.

I am getting a Compaq cq56-115dx laptop as a replacement for an Hp Dv6308nr, this is through the Nvidia Settlement.

    It comes with the following:

Amd v140 Single Core 64 Bit Cpu 2.3 Ghz
    2 Gig Ram
    250 Gig Hdd
    Ati Radeon Hd 4250 Graphics
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit

Anyone have this? If so how is it with Winodws 7. Any issues I should know about.

And finally, would it be beneficial to upgrade to 4 gig.

Hi Hewjr1000 and welcome to the Forum. It would appear that your new rig is light years ahead of your old HP. 2.3Ghz CPU vs 1.66Ghz cpu, 250GB Hard drive vs 120GB HD, and 2GB ram vs 1GB on old one. The only upgrade I would even consider is bumping the ram to 4GB. See how performance is first. Windows 7 is the best OS from MS to date.

Make sure you burn a full set of Recovery DVD's now so if you ever have a hard drive failure, you can get back to Factory Condition fairly easy. Also, now, burn a Windows System Recovery CD. You will find this capability in Control Panel, Backup & Restore, Create a System Repair Disc. All of the above can come in handy in the future.

For Virus protection, most people on this Forum would recommend Microsoft Security Essentials. Small overhead and very effective. For on demand scanning for Malware, use Malwarebytes.

You will find lots of qualified folks at this Forum who are more that happy to help you with questions/problems. Check out our Tutorial Section - lot's of amazing things in there. Don't be a stranger.
