Can't Format my External Drive.

I was trying to install an external drive to my router D-Link DIR 655 and gave up on that.after connecting my Ex-hard drive to my laptop with Win7 64 I could not get it to format after some time I moved the exDrive to my wife's laptop and was able to do the format but when I went back to the Win7 laptop I could not format the exDrive again. I checked the Disk Manager and Drivers E: and F: was there but I still could not Format these two Drives. Comparing the new ExDrives E: & F: with my C: drive I noticed the word RAW behind the E: & F: drives is this correct and if not how do I correct my problem to use my exHard drive.

I got my problem corrected, and must say it was easy, I first deleted the Drive letters for the two external partictions and the next then I did was to remove the external hard drive disconnect the usb cable and restart the laptop. I then went back to disk management and assigned the two partitions new drive letters the same letters as before and it came up, I did install the External Drive before I assiged the Drive letters
