A recent momentary blackout during a thunderstorm took out my Sennheiser RS140 headset, and from that point on, the audio on most apps cycles on and off in a continuous pattern of ~ 5 secs on/~10 secs off. I would just assume that the problem is with the sound card and RMA it, but curiously some programs are not effected, like VLC and Pysol, so I want to check if anyone has any other ideas?
I have tried reseating the speaker connectors, but have not reinstalled the sound driver, simply because this didn't strike me as that kind of issue. The card appears normally in the Device Manager and I find no other clue to go on.
EDIT: The sound card is an Asus D2X
