Short wires on fans are fixed just by cutting and soldering in a little extension or using a plug and wire from an old fan and just cutting and adding the plug from old cheap fan, plus i have found sites that sell extensions have to look for it and get back to you on that one.

I thought of that & might be a better solution that how I have it now (red line in pic crudely represents cable location). While the cable isn't resting over any electronics, it is tucked in a confined area. There isn't any tension on it, having an inch or so of slack.

Do these pics look correct? The RAM is PC3-12800 DDR3 (1600Mhz) but this indicates it's much slower.

    It's dual channel so it's running 667 x 2 = 1333, so it looks like it's right to me

Default motherboard settings will run it at 1333MHz.

Check your BIOS for RAM XMP setting, this should bring it up to 1600MHz.

If you download CPUZ and post a snip of the CPU, Mainboard, Memory, and SPD tabs, you can tell from them.
The SPD tabs will show the manufacturer tested settings and if the RAM is XMP enabled.

That fixed it. Now reads 1600Hhz.:)

Another question. I just found HPET set to 32 bit mode when it should be on 64 in my system bios. What exactly does the high precision event timer do & should this be set to 64-bit?

Glad your RAM is at 1600MHz, strange the CPUZ SPD tab is blank.
That information is stored on the RAM and usually indicates if XMP is available.

I would set the HPET to the same as your OS, 64bit.
    High Precision Event Timer

Setting HPET to 64bit allows the 64bit OS and apps to use the full 64bit registers.

My PC is running cool & I think it's time to check out overclocking. Started a new post in the Performance & Maintenance section. Please check it out. :)
