Set your pen to 'Read only' mode

    Hello once again,

Last week, my high school was infected with a virus. Every computer and pendrives were infected with it.

At home, we don't have viruses problems often, because I'm cauteous and my mom has a pen with a switch that enables and disables writing to her pendrive.

Nowadays, it's rare to see such pens with such switches... So I wondered if there's anyway to, somehow, set my pen to 'read only' mode, so that when I plug it to public PCs, my pen doesn't get infected. And then, when I go home and connect the pen to my PC, have the capacity to write on it as usually.

Do you know how to do this?

P.S. - As always, I apologize if this problem has already been posted once.

Well you can set write protect in the registry on your own computer but obviously not on public PCs. Subject to what you can and cant run on a public PC, you may find this tiny utility useful.

I know how to change the registry so I cannot write anything to pens using MY computer, but I wanted to make it impossible to write on it when I plug it to other PCs. I think the software you suggested is what I was looking for, I'll try it and notice you.

    Edit:

I spoke too early... that didn't solve my problem..
The program doesn't solve it.. It is just another software that changes the registry for you and makes what you told me, but it doesn't actually protect your pen, because if you connect it to other PC, you can write on it freely..

Please, I'm hoping for more suggestions

    try usbdummyprotect

Small utility for protecting USB drives from viruses. Copy it to USB drive and execute from there. It creates dummy.file file which takes all free space and these is no more space for viruses. To unprotect drive execute utility again or manually remove dummy.file.
it basically fills your usb drive, so nothing else can get written to it.
