Red X on network drives

Let me start by saying i'm not really savvy on computer jargon. But here goes.
I have 2 windows 7 computers in my network and I have a Dlink DNS-323 mass storage devide. my wifes computer has no problem accessing the external hard drive. On my computer I have the red X on both drives in the DNS-323. If i try to access this drive from an application such as Itunes, it tells that the path is invalid or something close to that. I then have to go to Windows Explorer and double click on both drives.
Please help.

Its not the D-link network storage because my wif is also connected to it and she doesn't have the problem.

So you have MAPPED these drives and they do show in Win Explorer, correct?

When you mapped them did you tick "Reconnect at startup/log on"?

Also when you are in Win Explorer right click on both these drives, one at a time, and select properties. In the security tab make sure you User Name is listed and has full control.

yes I have mapped them several time and each time I chose "reconnect at startup / log on. There are 2 computer connected only one computer has the problem. The access is "everyone".

Can you post the full path to these drives.

Also when you are in a program, like iTunes, can you go to Network\NAS\Drives to access them. And can you do the same in Win Explorer.

Do you have a problem accessing them in all programs or is it just iTunes? Say like Word or some other program.
Like if you were to create a file/document and save it to one of those drives, when you close and reopen the program that created the file and you go to to open it from the list of most recent files does it give you the same Path invalid error. Maybe a reboot in between the saving and reopening.
