Spanned disks & new mobo install Ok, it's been 2 years now and I finally bit the upgrade bullet. I will be installing a new mobo, cpu, ram, and of course my current version of win 7 x64.
My only question is, will my spanned volumes survive and be recognized by the new system?
I have 4, 2TB drives. 2 are in the pc, spanned (by Windows 7 device manager) to 4TB drive.
The other 4TB span is in a eSATA raidbox.
I have reinstalled windows before and the span was recognized, all data intact. But now I am wondering since I am upgrading to a new mobo, should I be worried?
Thanks guys. | My System Specs |

I want to say it will be no problem, but I'd do a System Backup just in case. It sounds like you have plenty of storage for it. | My System Specs | | OS XP / Win7 x64 Pro CPU Intel Quad-Core Q9450 @ 3.2GHz Motherboard Asus P5-E Memory 2x2GB GSkill DDR2 Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS (EVGA) Monitor(s) Displays Dell 2408WFP Screen Resolution 1920x1200 |

YES IT WORKS Installed new mobo, cpu, ram. After installing Windows 7 I plugged in the rest of my HDD's and it recognized the spanned array in both the internal drives and the raid box! All data intact.
What was really strange was that after I completed the build, I only hooked up the Drive that Windows and my programs were on. Under windows drive management, it shows my previous spanned arrays. It said "Failed" under all of them of course.
How did it know I had these arrays? The hard drives weren't even plugged in and it was a fresh copy of windows. Strange indeed. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU AMD Phenom II X6 1090T 3.2GHz Motherboard GIGABYTE GA-890FXA-UD5 Memory G.SKILL Ripjaws 8GB DDR3 1333 Graphics Card Sapphire Radeon HD 5770 PSU Corsair 750TX PSU Case Antec 1200 V3 Case Cooling Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro Hard Drives Crucial m4 ssd 64g
