Some Experts needed.. 'Rate My/This Computer' Hello-,
First post just bought a HP p6720f - here's some specs.
OS Home 64 Bit
CPU - AMD Phenom II X4 840T 2.9Ghz
Motherboard - N-Alvorix-RS880-uATX (Alvorix)
Memory - Samsung DDR3 6 GIG
Graphics Card(s) - MSI N560GTX-Ti
Sound Card - on-board (for now)
Monitor(s) Displays LG- 42' LCD
PSU - PC Power &Cooling 425 Turbo Cool ATX
** I added the video card and the PSU. It was cheaper to buy one then build one. Question is when I try and run Rate This Computer it crashes within 5 secconds - machine shuts off. I have to pwr back on.
Granted i'm not that concerned about this rating. Its probably bogus anyway but I was curious to why you think it simply powers off my machine. I was thinking my add-in video or PSW... My drivers are all updated.
Thoughts?

Check that you have not dislodged other components whilst building the new bits in

Then I would suggest trying it with the original bits and see if the problem still exists | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Something I threw together OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Intel Core i7-2600K Motherboard Asus P8P67 Memory 16 GB G Skill F3-10666 CL9D-4GBRL Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 6870 Sound Card ATI Radeon HDMI / Realtek ALC892 Monitor(s) Displays 2 x 22" standard monitors / LG32LC56v TV to watch films Screen Resolution 1920 x1080 Keyboard Microsoft Comfort Curve Keyboard 2000 Mouse Hama M3110 / Logitech M305 PSU Thermaltake Toughpower Cable Management 750W Case Antec 300 Cooling Noctua NH-U12P SE2 and 5 120mm Case fans Hard Drives 2 x OCZ Vertex2 111.79GB

There is a good reason some computer sell for a low/cheap price.
That is because they are of a lower/cheaper quality.
Did you check the original PSU to make sure it was not wired in some proprietary manor? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Built be Me OS Windows 7 Pro x64 CPU i5 760 Motherboard Asus P7P55D-E Pro Memory 16GB Graphics Card Nvidia GTS450 Sound Card On board Monitor(s) Displays Dell 2007WFP Dell 1800FP Screen Resolution 1680x1050 1280x1024 Keyboard IBM Mouse MS PSU Antec 750 Case In Win Cooling Cooler Master Hyper 212+ Hard Drives Seagate 250GB & 750GB

You probably are not supplying enough power to the graphics card - your power supply is probably not adequate. Nvidia lists the recommended minimum power supply for a GTX 560 to be 500W. In addition, you have to balance the power across the power supply rails properly as that video card is power hungry. For instance, you would want your CPU and your video card on different rails, including the auxiliary PCI-e power connector for the video card (you do have that plugged in right?) | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Home built (GeneO industries)/Model 3 OS Windows 7 64 bit SP1 CPU i5 2500k @ 4.5 GHz, 1.264V 124 GFlop (IBT with AVX) Motherboard ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 Memory 16GB (4GBx4) 1600MHz G.skill Ripjaws X 8-8-8-24 Graphics Card MSI GTX 660 Ti PE/OC, 2GB 7160 MHz DDR5 clock, 1228 Mhz Core Sound Card Onboard Realtek HD Monitor(s) Displays NEC Spectraview 2490WUXi-SV Screen Resolution 1920 x 1200 Keyboard HP Wireless Mouse HP wireless PSU Seasonic X-850 (2012 KM3 model) Case Fractal Design "Define R3" Cooling CM TPC 812 push/pull, 3 120mm, 2 TY-140 case fans Hard Drives Samsung 128GB 840 Pro SSD (System), Crucial 128GB M4 SSD, 2x WD Caviar 1TB Black internal (data), 1x WD Blue 6Gb/s 1TB Internal, 1x 2TB eSata WD20EARS Green, 2x 500GB Seagate external USB, 1x 350GB exte Internet Speed 27.8 Mb/s down, 5.6 Mb/s up Other Info USB 3.0 x4 , SATA III x4, eSATA x3, SATA II x4, USB 2.0 x8. 2 Samsung DVD R/W drives.

Didn't try the original PSU and yes I have it plugged in right
I'm going to buy a 600 watt or better. They are not much $ these days. My PC Power & Cooling even though a 425 its still rated higer than most 500 but its 12 years old so maybe time for a new one. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP p6720f OS 64 bit CPU AMD Phenom II X4 840T 2.9Ghz Motherboard N-Alvorix-RS880-uATX (Alvorix) Memory Samsung DDR3 6 gig Graphics Card MSI N560GTX-Ti Sound Card Creative X-Fi Titanium Monitor(s) Displays LG- 42' LCD PSU Corsair 600 watt psw Hard Drives 1.5 TB Hitachi |

If you can't fix it take it back... And build your own desktop proper. HP have quite a high rank for products failing among the other big manufacturers. Asus has the least amount of percentage of products failing. More detailed info is on google. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP Pavilion dv6-2020ev OS Ubuntu 12.10 CPU Intel Core i7 720QM Motherboard Its a HP secret... It will have lost power capacity in that period due to capacitor aging. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Home built (GeneO industries)/Model 3 OS Windows 7 64 bit SP1 CPU i5 2500k @ 4.5 GHz, 1.264V 124 GFlop (IBT with AVX) Motherboard ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 Memory 16GB (4GBx4) 1600MHz G.skill Ripjaws X 8-8-8-24 Graphics Card MSI GTX 660 Ti PE/OC, 2GB 7160 MHz DDR5 clock, 1228 Mhz Core Sound Card Onboard Realtek HD Monitor(s) Displays NEC Spectraview 2490WUXi-SV Screen Resolution 1920 x 1200 Keyboard HP Wireless Mouse HP wireless PSU Seasonic X-850 (2012 KM3 model) Case Fractal Design "Define R3" Cooling CM TPC 812 push/pull, 3 120mm, 2 TY-140 case fans Hard Drives Samsung 128GB 840 Pro SSD (System), Crucial 128GB M4 SSD, 2x WD Caviar 1TB Black internal (data), 1x WD Blue 6Gb/s 1TB Internal, 1x 2TB eSata WD20EARS Green, 2x 500GB Seagate external USB, 1x 350GB exte Internet Speed 27.8 Mb/s down, 5.6 Mb/s up Other Info USB 3.0 x4 , SATA III x4, eSATA x3, SATA II x4, USB 2.0 x8. 2 Samsung DVD R/W drives.
