    Mouse stopped working after updates!

    Hi all, only me again.

My mouse has stopped working after i did some window's updates!, it's only a £4 mouse from asda in the UK, but was working fine before i did them. I went into my task manager and 2 of the USB's have warning's on them? Also this is the latest update that's killed my mouse.

    Thankyou in advance

Whenever you do an update, the system automatically creates a restore point so you can "roll-back" from the updates.

You can do a system restore by following this guide. System Restore

Once your system is working properly again, go through and install each update one at a time to see which one gives you problems.

    Hopefully, this helps

You can go to windows update through control panel or by typing "Windows Update" into the search bar

Once there, you will see your updates. IN the bottom left corner will be a "See also" tab that says "Installed Updates"

Click on Installed updates and you will see all of the installed updates. they should be listed in order of date. you can select individual updates and uninstall them.

I am not sure if it will correct the problem though in the same manner a system restore will restore the computer completely to a state from before the updates were applied. It is worth a shot though. Good luck!

Yea I hope someone knows what is going on because the latest updates kill all USB ports on my system. Restoring a backup image fixes the problem and I have not been able to isolate the problem update so far but I have it narrowed down to 10. The problem does not occure on the first reboot, on my system it happens after 3-4 reboots, this complicates finding the update that is causing the problem. I have had to restore a backup 5 times and every time I allow updates to install they have disabled all USB functionallity. I might add this is on a relatively new system with no tweaking of the OS or overclocking but it is a high end very complex system.

Thanks for posting Pat247. Sorry to hear you are having this issue as well. Hopefully the update will be identified so it can be avoided.

    Edit: o btw. Nice system!

I was begining to think that I was the only one with this problem until I came across this thread. There are some very smart people on this site so I have no doubt that the problem update will be identified and corrected. After 3 days of dealing with this I have decided to give it a rest and turned off auto updates.

Thorsen, thanks for the compliment and encouragement.

Try DriverMax... Yes I know it sucks for getting drivers for you... but use it to just find the latest proper driver available and search for it on google

I'm having this same issue on my desktop. I had the same issue with my keyboard a while back, and unplugging everything from the computer and unplugging it from power for about 10 minutes fixed the problem. However the same fix isn't working with the mouse.

Again, Windows installed some update and now my mouse doesn't work. (Wireless mouse) I pulled out the wired mouse to get things done and the wired mouse fails to work as well.

I can't follow these instructions on how to do a System Restore because I can't use my mouse (obviously). I've tried using my keyboard to navigate using various shortcuts, unfortunately I can't get to where I need to go without a mouse. Any suggestions? I'm getting very fed up with Windows as of late.
