Printer Spooler Stops During New Printer Set Up

I recent purchased a a new computer with Windows 7 Home Premium x64 and a Canon MG5220 Inkjet All-in-One printer. I have setup printer to be wireless (no problems). When I run the setup disk to start downloading the drivers, etc. I get the message that the Print Spooler Service stopped and to restart the computer. I have done that several times. Everytime have to restart the spooler in the print spooler properties only to have have it stop a few seconds later when I try to re-run the setup disk. I have deleted the files in the printer and driver files under windows\system32\spooler\drivers. There is a file called color in the driver filer. i have cleaned up the registry. I have tried the Window Fix. In other words, I have tried a lot of things to now avail. Help!!!

    Welcome frustrated.
Assuming that you have installed the software before you plugged in the printer?

I have one real important questions. when you say you have cleaned up the registry, what did you use?

Also, what other programs are running when you tried to install the printer?
you said that you set the printer up to be wireless, how are you selecting it in the install printer option?

I rfecommend installing the printer via the usb cable first and then converting it to wireless connection.

you might try that before you get too frustrated..

    Thanks, Rich:

Canon's instructions indicated to get the printer set up (ink cartridges, USB or Wireless installation, etc.) before using the setup CD.

I used Uniblue Registry Buster to clean the registry. I am wondering if there are still remnents of the old HP printer in the registry.

I turn off the firewall and active virus scan when I load the CD.

I will try the USB method and try down loading the driver from Canon. I will keep you posted.

Try removing some existing ports and driver related to the current printer you installing. reboot the machine then re-install the driver. print spooler stop due to a corrupted drivers.
