Have you tried disabling the J micron storage controller in the bios?

No. If I remember right it runs my usb3 and esata. Which I do not use. It is a few things I plan to turn off in bios when I go to over clocking. Tho not in use if enabled they still draw power etc. I have no devices that use either. I really do not even know how to use esata. I bought this mobo more for future proofing and has some stuff I can or might use. Will turn off firewire maybe some other things. I know I have to turn off energy saving stuff it is more junk than does any good any way..

I really do not need 2x pcie slots and then they will bump to 2 8x slots if I did so- cant run sli- I will never run a ati card much less 2 of them- but could maybe use another vid card for physx. That should have nothing to do with my marvel not showing up in storage controllers tho- it was there before just not now..

To tell ya the truth I do not know that it is a prob either. As said some of my security could have done it- or maybe w7 has made some change say in sp1. I really had no need to even check I just did and noticed it. Maybe w7 has made some change and is not a bad thing- just seems odd to me is all. I know for a fact it was showing before tho.

It has been a few times like said my system might freeze playing fo3- or after some windows update- even after sp1 update when I went to reboot I got the black screen saying windows did not shut down right, do I want to start in safe etc- I say start as normal. It is typical w7 stuff- it can be glitchy. Or games may not want to install right or trying to install patches for games will not work unless I move them off of my c drive or something stupid.

I check maintenance history etc pretty often. It only shows when I had to hit my reset button or says physx did not install right which is mafia2 for some reason- or like said restart after some windows update it might act stupid but that is not often. FO3 would freeze every few days but that is a buggy game to start with. It runs pretty good other than a few odd things from time to time. I like w7 and my system is the most powerful I have owned- but w7 can act funny sometimes- nothing major or best I can tell tho.

I am a perfectionists- I have never been half assed at anything- it is hard for me to cope with stuff or people that are- I have always been like that- sorry to say.. I do not know anything is wrong- it seems odd and will eat at me. I am more afraid to mess it up for real and have to reinstall my os etc. If something stopped working etc then I know I have real probs. It is just odd is all. And too I read marvel can be buggy to so. I am not sure what to think or say.

Thank you tho- You and I are a lot alike- if on the other foot I would keep plugging at it until you figured it out. I really thank you a lot. I more did not care to high jack the other dudes thread with my prob. Ha ha who knows with w7 maybe if I reboot it might just show up again- no telling. It works and is running my c drive. System seems fast and all of that good stuff. It might be ok- still odd tho..

I think other dude got his prob fixed he has not posted back since we gave him some ideas- I hope so.. I would more sweat this if I could see something not working right- all seems good tho. We will see.

Oh ya did you check out that other info link I posted? I have not got back to it yet. Tell the truth I wish I had something and was free and good like tuneup utilities and would not hurt nothing- I would run it. Loved it on my xp systems..

My bud bought me this system and near same for his self- I build and keep them up. Mine was the test bed. I did install and delete drivers and for marvel a few times when first built it and trying to figure out which was right drivers and for what. Again tho I had it all installed right and working right. It was not easy getting my sataIII working and no instructions in the manual. Built my buds system in a flash tho. I just do not understand why it is not showing up now tho. So I wonder if 7 has some reg prob and from drivers being deleted and installed it would not be uncommon for windows.. He is out of town for a few months and system off and no way for me to get to it- so.

I am ready to let it go unless I see real probs. I am in no hurry to over clock either- I am no expert at it. Best I read it is pretty easy on these systems tho and should not try and take it to far to fast. I hope to get more out of it- was more waiting to maybe get a better vid card. I am more bored and would like to say in specs etc see my over clock ha ha. If it did not hurt anything and run faster is cool. I can always set it back to stock like now. I just want to be like the big boys maybe.

I want to over clock too. I also want peace of mind as said before..

Here ya go a nice review of my mobo. And just read I do need the jmicron it runs the only ide on the mobo which has my opti drive connected to it- so. Does not run the usb3 tho does run the esata- I can turn that off in the bios if I remember right. I can not turn the jmicron off- I need it.

I also bought this mobo it has an added chip that adds 8 more pcie1 lanes and no slow down using 2x high end vid cards and using sataIII and usb3 all at the same time.

I 've just been looking at your manual and you have it right to do with jmicron being necessary for esata but doesnt say anything about usb 3 ports maybe that comes with the chipset drivers - does the j micron have the latest driver from the site?

With intel you often need the matrix storage driver software for it to function properly - i noticed there is a utility for the marvell called the Marvell SATAIII Management Utility - setup sytem restore point, and install that, and see if that fixes everything. its under utilities in the download section.

Ya it is all installed been running fine and all- still runs fine. The probs it has had is w7- And msi forums say avoid the live update stuff. The usb3 is its own stand alone chip. It is all up to date. Other than do not need to update bios or the sound- or sound right now unless have probs with it. Bios as with any it more adds mem support or said some cpu miro code but not needed if all runs well. If over clocking some folks change bios up and down to find out which gives best oc. But my cpu is supported with 1.3 and before so its all good.

I really think the probs lay with w7 not the mobo or my self even. Installing the sataIII hdd was a bite but can be so on any of these marvel controlled mobos and or if folks are adding ssd drives and was no instructions and the msi forums was no help either.

I had to research hdd probs and installing ssd drives and had to figure it out on my own. I had to turn on ahci support in the bios. And being my sataIII is my c drive I had to connect it to a normal sataII port install the os and then the marvel drivers turn off the system and then move the sataIII drive from the sataII port to my sata7 white port marvel sataIII port on the mobo and reboot- bamb all is good and running at sataIII speeds and it shows on the boot screen and at 6gigs. And from log on to the marvel tray shows it at 6gigs and working etc- I checked that yesterday- well day before now. It is all working its just not showing up in the storage controller section in device man.

My sataIII would not run at all on the marvel port if the drivers was not installed and I have the utility and or marvel tray installed only I disabled it with my spy sweeper it is not needed or running 24/7 or at boot up. But even if I turn it back on and reboot etc. marvel is not showing in the storage controllers.

I never installed the intel matrix drivers or manually. W7 updated it as needed and it only runs my e storage drive and has nothing to do with marvel. If I was going to run a raid on my sataII ports I would update the intel matrix maybe- but I see no need to or now any way. Also w7 installed a separate driver 1 each update for both of my wd hdd's- which again is nothing new or for newer wd drives any way. I would guess it might install some driver for seagates or what ever drives too.

I think it is a w7 and or reg bug.. Or maybe sp1 changed something how it registers such things or something- Or avast anti virus or spy sweeper could be hiding it- Avast had a program update a month or so ago- or when I got to it any way- I keep the virus database updated but might not always jump on program update. It is not impossible for security to hide such things to protect the system and the controller runs my c drive? I am not going to uninstall all that stuff just to see if anything changes either- ha ha..

might have to break it down more if to long tho..

See what hits I get and maybe a fix too- or explain why etc.. I will get to it laters.

Since it is working if you check in the Bios it should be showing there.

Also if it is working but not showing this tutorial may help.
    Device Manager : Hidden Devices

I don't know why it would become hidden but maybe that will get things right.

    Hope that helps.
