I have an Epson Perfection 4990 Photo scanner, which is also "discontinued", but at least there are 32-bit/64-bit Windows 7 drivers
for it. I've got them installed on my own Windows 7 Pro x64 system.
I use SilverFast Ai from LaserSoft Imaging as my scanning software, rather than Epson's programs. LaserSoft also supports Windows 7 fully.
Not that I have any desire or need to replace my 4990, according to the Epson page my Perfection 4990 Photo scanner has been replaced by their V700 Photo scanner which is supported by Epson-provided Windows 7 drivers.
Looks like your 2480 is replaced by the V300 Photo scanner, which is supported by Epson-provided Windows 7 drivers.
