Windows 7: Wake On Mouse

I already have Wake On PS/2 mouse disabled, yet it still wakes my system if I touch the trackball of my cordless mouse. This is not a problem with my desktop mouse, but it definitely is with the remote control that includes a trackball, because it usually stays at my side in bed, and if I even jar it in the wrong fashion, it wakes the computer. It has it's own power button dedicated for this task, so how do I disable the mouse portion of this issue?

Have you gone into Device Manager and expanded the remote device's Properties and under the Power Management Tab unchecked the option to "use this device to wake the computer"?

Or are you looking to disable just the trackball from doing so?

No, I do not want to entirely disable the remote's ability to wake the computer, only the trackball. However, I apparently am not following your comment regarding the devices properties in the Device Manager, because there is no power management tab on it, nor any other device that I find. Please clarify.

EDIT: Digging a bit deeper, I think that I see what you mean regarding the power tab on my Logitech mouse, but not on the remote. As can be seen in the screenshot, there are entries in Human Interface Devices and Keyboards for the remote, but none as a mouse per se.

In addition to help with what Bob posted above, this may be able to help you prevent it from being able to wake the computer.

As it turned out, you were right. When I last posted, I was totally decaffeinated and half asleep, and did not think about the fact that the problem was on the other computer instead of this one. When I checked on it, it was much less clear which items in the Device Manager pertained to the remote, so I had to go about it by trial and error, but I finally found that an item listed under keyboards was what had to be disabled to prevent it from waking the computer. Fortunately, this did not effect the ability of the power button to both sleep and awake the computer. Thanks.

Since I already posted the screenshot of the Device Manager listings on my desktop, which is using a different remote than the previous one, it seems like an opportune moment to try to kill two birds with one stone. I just received this remote yesterday, and am still trying to figure it out. It does have a power button on it, which I presume is somewhat like the other remote's, yet nothing happens which I press it. None of the items in the Device Manager have a power tab, so that avenue is not available. Since most of the other buttons seem to function, I'm figuring that the problem with this one is some kind of configuration...anyone have any idea of what?

EDIT: Doubt that it helps, but the brand of the remote is Inteset, product name INT-106, model # INGP-IR01.

Hey Seekermeister, glad to hear you got the original issue sorted.

As for the remote, I don't use one, so I'd only be guessing. Let's see if someone else who uses one comes along.

I think that the problem is with the power configuration on this rig, because I moved it to my other rig, and the power button does work, so there is now two dead birds.
