    HDD Partition

I have a toshiba laptop running Win7 with 300gb HDD.
Shows partitioned which is as it was new:
    WINDOWS(C:) - 23.4GB free of 149GB
    Data (D:) - 137GB free of 148GB.

I use C: to store all my music and movies as that one stream to my xbox.
For some reason with D:, no matter how long I spend with the sharing options, I cannot get my xbox to see it so wanted to shrink D: which I can do and have done to test and replaced back to normal since.
However, it will not let me extend the C:

Any idea why this would be?

    Are you using Disk Management?

It cannot extend a partition into unallocated space unless the space is IMMEDIATELY to the right of the partition to be expanded.

Like this: C unallocated space D. In this case, you could expand C

If you had: C D unallocated space, you could NOT expand C.

You will probably have to use a third party tool like Partition Wizard bootable disc.
