Hi guys.
After a good reflection, I decided to mantain my actual pc (the one of my system spec), and donīt make (yet) an upgrade to the new Core i3/5/7/whatever...
So, to give a good upgrade in my machine, I pretend to change my mb, to gain access to more RAM and more resources (and maybe, make a good jump to processor Q9650).
So... any sugestion to a good middle-end to high-end mb???

Even jumping to the Q9650 would be jumping up to a few generations behind. Alas, if you are ok with that, and want to stick with an Intel-based board, take a look at these as examples: Newegg.com - Computer Hardware, Motherboards, Intel Motherboards, Core 2 Quad / Core 2 Extreme / Core 2 Duo
There are not many C2D/Q/E boards available anymore as they have been surpassed by two generations of i3/5/7-xxx and the i3/5/7-xxxx(K) processors, both of which use different sockets than the C2D/Q/E's LGA 775.
In my personal opinion, I really don't recommend it for three reasons:
1. The boards are several years old and support for them may cease soon. I cannot say when or if because each manufacturer is different.
2. The features of the 775 board are likely to be much less than that of the newer 1366, 1156, 1155 boards.
3. You are hitting a very hard ceiling. You cannot go any higher than the upper 9000 Q-series processors. Their performance in not nearly the same as the newer i3/5/7-xxx and the i3/5/7-xxxx(K) processors.
That's what I think about the concept. It's ultimately your call but LGA 775 boards just aren't in demand anymore and GOOD ones will be harder and harder to find for good prices.

I understand your point of view, and your recomendation is fair and reasonable. So, let me explain a litter more about my choice:
Due to personal problems (my stepson need to make a emergency surgery last month, and Iīm in the middle of a health treatment too), my budget is a little sufocated from here to the end of the year.
If we put the ill-famed "Brazil cost" in the equation, the upgrade to a whole new platform (mb, memory and processor) is out of question.
What is the Brazil cost? Itīs good to clarify this, since there are many brazilian here in the forums, and sometimes others will appear with hardware doubts, too. Here, due to government tax, laws, and this type of ugly things (), eletronics are 2, 3, or 4 times more expensive, comparing to the north part of the globe...
I just found this pretty Asus Motherboard for sale here. Something near U$ 170,00, without count the shipping costs.
So, any PC upgrade, here, need to receive a lot of thought.
And, another consideration is my necessity of power. Actually, Iīm very satisfied with my E8400. The possible upgrade to a Q9650 will enter in my consideration only to give me more power to my graphic design stuff. =)
But, of course, the sheer new power of a i5 or i7 is in my wishlist. So, I pretend to put my actual machine in a better condition and, in next year, buy a new one for me and give this one to my stepson. :)
