Help with how a webcam for dv7 laptop works

I'm not sure where to ask this so i'll try here since it deals with cameras. I have an hp dv7 laptop with webcam. I would like to try it to see how it works (my wife has same system). I can't find any info in a windows 7 book. I can't find anything on the machine that looks like a driver or app. What would be the first step to test this function?

Welcome to the forum.
If you are asking for the program location it’s on:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Hewlett-Packard\Media\Webcam\HPMediaSmartWebcam.exe" /MS
Or you can click on the start button, all programs, HP, HP Media Smart then HP Media Smart Webcam.
But you said” I can't find anything on the machine that looks like a driver or app.”
Check to see if the above exists.
Good luck

Hi John
It was easy. Don't know how I missed it. I also associated Win Live to my email service and sent a recording to my wife. Now if I were just photogenic.
Thanks

Hi there. I did a clean install of Windows 7 a few weeks ago. I just noticed that I don't seem to have a webcam or quick cam on my laptop anymore. There is nothing under accessories. I'm not sure what I need to do. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you.
