    seagate baracuda xt 750gb ST3750640AS


    Hi everyone my problem is i switched hard drives a few days ago just because and my WEI has went down by .2 the previous hard drive was the same make but 500gb

    also the 500gb i updated the firmware ,this particualr 750 gb there is no firmware update so basicly my score went from a 5.9 to a 5.7

    I do in the future plan on upping to a ssd but as of now is there anyway to increase the performance i have pretty much tryed it all looking for firmware and tweeks any suggestions welcomed

    I would suggest checking that write caching is still enabled

    Widows WEI is not very accurate You might be happier testing both discs with ATTO or HD Tune

    I don't have a solution but I have used a Hitachi 1TB sata, two different Barracudas ST31000528AS (firmware CC38) and always had a WEI of 5.9. Also pre and post SP1.
    I went to IDE from ACHI mode for reasons I won't bother going into to, got marginally better(?) speed and some other benefits, but still WEI of 5.9.

    personally i dont think there is one im just going to save up an get a ssd with a new mb ram just going to scratch trying to get a better read and write

    vs the 500gb read and write benchmarks this drive is turtle speeds........
