I'm going on the assumption they may have been locked, protected, or something similar, by Acronis. If when you cut and paste them you did not change anything, and they are not showing in the original location. Try cut and pasting them to back the original location and then see if you can remove them with Acronis?

cheers mate never knew that I thought that was the same as deleting. I am knew to Acronis as well will have a look to see if there is an option to delete them, there is an option to wipe your hard drive completely don't know why on earth they would give you that option to render your hard drive useless. What is the easiest back up program to use.

Are you really sure what is taking the space. An inventory with WinDirStat may clarify that. In addition I would clarify the status of the shadowstorage. The Cmd command is vssadmin list shadowstorage. Look for Allocated.

Before you think about which program I'd suggest you figure out an actual strategy that suits you, first.

Use the site search for "backup strategy" and/or similar and have a read up. Which will likely then lead you to one or more of the tutorials for individual programs.

Once you know what you want to do I'm sure folk will help you fine tune anything...

Cutting and pasting is moving files from one location, copying and pasting is creating a copy and deleting removes them.

Before you start deleteing anything i would make sure the image you created will go back in, because when you cut and paste an image from one place to another it may not reinstall. Just my 2 cents
