Can't access drives connected via an EIDE-to-USB kit

I think then I would test them as slave drives in a decent working desktop with a standard IDE data Cable & power cable connected to the IDE connection on the MB.

Thanks; I may try that. It's been a while since I've opened the case on my desktop PC; I didn't think motherboards still *had* IDE connections on them!

Not that I understand the difference between "CHS" and "LBA", but the sticker on each of the four drives does list something called an "LDA Drive Parameter" -- I'm trying to get clarification about that on the other forum.

LBA= Logical Block Addressing
CHS= Cylinder, Head, Sector
CHS is an old way of accessing info on the HDD, LBA is the latest, for spinning drives at least, and is faster.

As for trying the drives in another PC, as Doc suggests, you will most likely find IDE (ATA) headers on the board. Many optical drive still use the IDE headers for operation.
