Windows 7 - Super Processor, or Slow Memory?

Super Processor, or Slow Memory?

This is kind of bothering me. My CPU usage always seems to be under 10%, while my Memory is always over 50%. In Vista my CPU usage was much more (30-40%) and my memory was lower (35-45%).

Is this 7 just being better with the processor and worse with the memory, or is it just reading it wrong?

im guessing worse with the memory but i dont see how it could be taking up that much without running a lot of extra programs

you must be using a few programs as i have the same amount ( have 3gigs BTW+ a IGP (meaning shared memory meaning less))

and i have a few tabs open and a few programs

Well I have 2gb of memory, and my idle stays at 50%.

it should use about 50% of your memory....

so your assumption is correct...

Which one? That it's bad with memory or that it reads it wrong?

the only thing i can say that let it use less memory is to disable superfetch....

it should lower it to about 800mb (maybe less).....

it will hinder performance (yes this contradictory but listen)

superfetch caches part of programs that you would normally use...
( that of course uses memory...)

Windows 7 memory management is more efficient (especially on older machines...)

i have two machines one with 1gb and another with 3...

the both run at about 50% free physical memory....

BTW what architecture are you using??

Hmmm... idle Windows 7 should be like 600. At least that's for me, even less. (now I'm looking at the task manager with Firefox open) and I have 2 gigs.

Weird.

You mean for the processor? It's a Intel Q6600 running at 2.4GHz. If you mean the memory, I'm not sure. It's been awhile since I've looked at it.
