Super Processor, or Slow Memory? This is kind of bothering me. My CPU usage always seems to be under 10%, while my Memory is always over 50%. In Vista my CPU usage was much more (30-40%) and my memory was lower (35-45%).
Is this 7 just being better with the processor and worse with the memory, or is it just reading it wrong?

Is this 7 just being better with the processor and worse with the memory, or is it just reading it wrong? im guessing worse with the memory but i dont see how it could be taking up that much without running a lot of extra programs | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Ultimate Beta 7000 CPU AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Brisbane 2.6GHz Black Edition Motherboard ASUS M2A-VM Memory Kingston 2GB DDR2 667 Monitor(s) Displays Acer AL2216Wbd 22" Widescreen Screen Resolution 1680x1050 Hard Drives HITACHI 500GB SATA Other Info Laptop: Compaq C700 |

it should use about 50% of your memory....
so your assumption is correct... | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Tx2500z Tablet Pc/Homemade Server OS Windows 7 Ult x64(x2), HomePrem x32(x4), Server 08 (+VM), 08 R2 (VM) , SuSe 11.2 (VM), XP 32 (VM) CPU Turion X2 ultra (oh well came with laptop)/P4 @3.2 (yes P4) Motherboard IDK HP Motherboard / Intel DG965SS Memory OCZ Dual Channel 4GB kit/ 1gb Dual Channel Graphics Card HD 3200 graphics /GMA x3100 (yay for intergrated!!) so your assumption is correct... Which one? it should lower it to about 800mb (maybe less).....
it will hinder performance (yes this contradictory but listen)
superfetch caches part of programs that you would normally use...
( that of course uses memory...)
Windows 7 memory management is more efficient (especially on older machines... )
i have two machines one with 1gb and another with 3...
the both run at about 50% free physical memory....
BTW what architecture are you using?? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Tx2500z Tablet Pc/Homemade Server OS Windows 7 Ult x64(x2), HomePrem x32(x4), Server 08 (+VM), 08 R2 (VM) , SuSe 11.2 (VM), XP 32 (VM) CPU Turion X2 ultra (oh well came with laptop)/P4 @3.2 (yes P4) Motherboard IDK HP Motherboard / Intel DG965SS Memory OCZ Dual Channel 4GB kit/ 1gb Dual Channel Graphics Card HD 3200 graphics /GMA x3100 (yay for intergrated!!) Hmmm... idle Windows 7 should be like 600. At least that's for me, even less. (now I'm looking at the task manager with Firefox open) and I have 2 gigs.
Weird. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP 530 OS Windows 7 - 7000 CPU Intel Core 2 Duo T5200 Motherboard Mobile Intel 945GME Express Chipset Memory 2 GB DDR2 SDRAM Graphics Card Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950, up to 224-MB shared s Sound Card Conexant CX20549 Monitor(s) Displays 15.4-inch WXGA BrightView Screen Resolution 1280 x 800 Hard Drives 120-GB 5400 rpm SMART SATA Other Info It's a notebook, in case you didn't noticed. |

BTW what architecture are you using?? You mean for the processor? It's a Intel Q6600 running at 2.4GHz. If you mean the memory, I'm not sure. It's been awhile since I've looked at it. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self OS Windows 7 Build 7100 (x64) CPU Intel Q6600 2.4GHz Motherboard P5Ne-SLI Memory 5 GB Graphics Card GeForce GTX 260 - 896 MB Sound Card PCI Express X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro Series Monitor(s) Displays Westinghouse - 22" (L2210NW) Screen Resolution 1680x1050 Keyboard Razer Tarantula Mouse Microsoft/Razer Habu PSU 500w Case Xion III Gaming Mid-Tower w/Side Windows Cooling 5 Fans Hard Drives 500gb SATA Internal
