An other possible cause is a program that runs at startup. Either the program is maxing out the system resources or two or more programs are conflicting and freezing the system until the conflict is resolved.
There are no programs installed as yet, save for the ASUS Probe II and the INTEL SSD Toolbox - only 2 80 GB. SSD's and major tonnage of Western Digital conventional TB HD's.
Both the mouse freezes and the CPU red warning LED were intermittent, the perfect way to induce insanity. I did not document my steps and for that I apologize. It's just that I seemed to be the only one with such a unique problem.
I am exceedingly stubborn and do not give up until a problem is solved. Also, I have discovered that I could not solve many of these problems without knowledgeable and selfless people such as yourselves.
