    Format Thumb Drive that is accessible on Windows XP


    I have a thumb drive that i formatted on my new laptop that has Windows XP. ANd i am trying to copies files from my old laptop and desktop that are using Windows. I can add files to my thumb drive on my Windows 7 laptop but when i try and use the thumb drive on any computer that has Windows XP is says the drive needs to be formatted and when i click format (on the windows XP computer) it says can't that i dont have permission. How can i format that drive so that i can use it on both operating systems?

    As long as you are formatting it using NTFS, you shouldn't be running into this.

    Thanks i will try that. It was being formatted in exFAT so i will try to format using NTFS today. Thanks.

I have prepared a usb Windows 7 setup some time ago and i need to create another one for a friend. Can i clone it into the other usb thumb drive or do i have to whole create it from scratch (downloading the ISO..etc) ?

I have some files I'd like to copy to my Windows 7 Pro computer. They are on a thumb drive and the files were made on a Home Premium computer. When I insert the thumb drive, the computer sees the drive and assigns it a letter but tells me there are no files on it :confused:
I purchased a 16GB SanDisk Cruzer thumb drive yesterday. I decided to format this morning to get rid of the bloat on it, but I've been sitting here for a least 30 mins and it's still going. How long does this process usually take for 16GB thumb drive? :mad:
