Need Win7 64bit, WMC Compatable SD Capture Card - USB or PCI Hi all!
I am looking for a Windows 7 64 bit, WMC compatible capture card that has S-video/Composite and Stereo Audio inputs. I am looking to set up an IPTV receiver in Windows Media Center. PCI-E is not an option as I am out of those slots. TV is not necessary - just a simple capture card for SD (480i) video. Even an old card would be fine - I would be happy to search eBay once I know of one that will work.
I am currently using a DIAMOND One Touch Video Capture USB 2.0 VC500 to capture video from the IPTV - but it is not seen in WMC, so I have to start recordings manually.
What really has me stumped is the fact that this above capture device actually showed up ONCE in WMC. Nothing since - go figure.
Thanks in advance!

ATI TV Wonder 650 PCI
Works perfect with S-video input and L/R-stereo analog audio.
Unfortunately, WMC itself does NOT support the S-video input on the card to the best of my knowledge. I used BeyondTV when that was how I was operating.
Both BeyondTV and WMC DO support the OTA/ATSC digital tuner in the card. But for S-video input, I'm afraid WMC is a weakling and does NOT recognize that hardware functionality.
BeyondTV DOES work in 64-bit Windows 7, and runs perfectly with this card... supporting both analog S-video input as well as its digital ATSC tuner. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home-built, two systems (1) and (2) OS Windows 7 Pro x64 / WinXP Pro x86 on (1), Win7 Pro X64 / WinXP Pro x86 on (2) CPU E6850 3.0Ghz/4MB-cache (1); E8400 3.0Ghz/6MB-cache (2) Motherboard SuperMicro C2SBX (1); ASUS P5Q3 (2) Memory 4GB PC3-8500 DDR3 (1); 4GB PC3-10600 DDR3 (2) Graphics Card ATI HD4850 (1); ATI HD5770 (dual-DVI) (2) (see TV cards) Sound Card Realtek ALC883 HD Audio (1); Realtek ALC1200 HD Audio (2) Monitor(s) Displays Eizo 24" S2433W (1); Eizo HD2441W LCD, Eizo S2433W (2) Screen Resolution 1920x1200 (1); 1920x1200, 1920x1200 (2) Keyboard IBM PS/2 (1) and (2) Mouse Microsoft wired (1); Logitech MX Revolution wireless (2) PSU Nesteq ECS-6001 600W (1); Nesteq ECS-5001 500W (2) Case Acousti-Case 360 (1) and (2) Cooling Zalman CNPS9700-NT for CPU, 2x120mm case fans (1) and (2) Hard Drives (1) 1x1TB SATA (7200 RPM), 1x300GB U320 SCSI (10000RPM), 1x750GB SATA (7200RPM), 1x150GB SATA (10000RPM) for OS;

After a lot of research, I picked up an Adaptec External USB AVC-3610 - waiting for delivery now. The S-video in on my fancy HD TV card would not record video off of Sky Angel - probably because of some kind of video "protection". My current USB device is working fine outside of WMC - and I am hoping that this older unit - which reports indicate is WMC and Win. 7 64 bit compatible - will solve my problem. Several people have posted reports indicating that they are successfully using this USB unit in much the same way I intend to use it: Analog inputs (s-video/L+R in) and channel changing via IR Blaster.
We shall see if this works..... | My System Specs

Update I have installed the Adaptec External USB AVC-3610 and it works great in WMC. I have used one of the two component inputs for Sky Angel. Used with an IR blaster (came with the AVC-3610) it works great for Sky Angel and the second input allows me to keep a VCR permanently hooked up for digitizing old video cassettes.
The only problem I have is a weird copy protection prohibition. If I set virtually any show to "timer record" it won't record and gripes about the owner of the content not allowing any recording. However, if I am watching the program and press record at any time after it starts, it records fine.
Of course, the Diamond VC500 records anything with the warnings. So what I am now doing as a work around is connecting the Sky Angel box to the VC500 and starting capture before I leave the house. WMC then dutifully changes channels for me and gripes that their is no video signal. It's kind of a pain, but it works.
BTW, the owners of the content often encourage people to set their PVRs to record it! So what gives with the record prohibition? Why would a content provider want fewer viewers? It just doesn't make any sense. | My System Specs | | Need Win7 64bit, WMC Compatable SD Capture Card - USB or PCI problems? All times are GMT -5. The time now is 09:49 AM.
