Windows 7 - A BSOD from Hell

I recently had a hard crash, The screen was blank and the system fan was blowing at full speed. I did a hard shutdown and when trying to start again the same thing happened .

So trying to diagnose the problem I reset the memory, the videocard and others than pulled the bios battery to reset the bios to factory spects.

After that I could only get to this screen which had a lot of information about my configuration including that the HD's were being controlled by RAID

It finally hit me that I was not using Raid so I corrected Bios and now all works well.

Just a warning to all that the default bios may not be the right configuration.

4 years ago RAID was a new and a big deal. Even though my system came with only one HD, DELL ( In It's infinite wisdom ) set the default to RAID.

Just thought someone might learn from my mistake, I thought that I had lost my computer for good. Not a pleasant feeling.

BTW it turned out to be the video card which started working after I reinstalled it.
