question about a HDD

my laptop broke down so i'm thinking if i turn HDD the into an external but i need to know what kind of connection it has it doesn't seem to be ATA. i think the model name is Momentus 5400.3

That pic looks like an adapter of some sort attached / pushed into the pins on the HD ?

So, they were probably standard laptop IDE pins behind it ?
