    RAID SATA 6Gb/s?

    I'm looking at a new Z68 mobo.

On the Gigabyte website they state that their Z68 has,

"Support for SATA RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, and RAID 10
    * When a RAID set is built across the SATA 6Gb/s and SATA 3Gb/s channels, the system performance of the RAID set may vary depending on the devices being connected"

    I've attached the whole description.

Are they saying they can RAID using the Intel chip as opposed to the Marvell chip?

I thought you could only RAID SATA 6 using Marvell, and only RAID 0 or 1.

Am I misunderstanding this? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

They are saying that you can use both for RAID

You can also use the Intel SATA 6 for RAID 0 or 1

If you want to make a RAID that spans the Intel SATA 3 / 6 ports with RAID 5 or10 is where their description comes in and you will only get the speeds when you plug in the correct hardware to the correct ports. which could produce a raid with two internal speeds

This is my understanding of it

"Afterthought" I suspect that it would more likely run at the speed of the slowest port / hardware that is used this would make a lot more sense to me

I get it, that makes sense, thanks for the quick reply pooch.

How do you like your CPU? I'm going to be using the same one with the new mobo.
